Manta Soul™
Jungle. Journey. Joy. A soul-centered retreat center on the slopes of an ancient volcano, Big Island of Hawaiʻi.
A Place Where Soul Work Lives
Manta Soul™ is a soul-centered retreat center hidden in the jungle of Hawaiʻi's Big Island, on the slopes of an ancient volcano. It is owned and operated by Dr. Christophe Morin and Dr. Bonnie Bright — a place devoted to healing and inner clarity, where neuroscience and spirituality meet Jungian, transpersonal, archetypal, and depth psychologies.
The land is dedicated to Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes — a daily reminder that transformation is elemental. To move through the depths while also breaking the surface into open air is the very rhythm of soul work.
Though the sanctuary feels remote, ocean adventures, hiking trails, and charming antique shops are all nearby — solitude without isolation.

Six Unique Spaces in the Jungle
Each dwelling has its own character — all share the quiet, the green, and the ocean air.

Manta Suite
A newly renovated two-story suite in a unique building that was once a macadamia nut farm processing site — now fun, spacious living quarters with an upstairs Queen bedroom with ocean view, a downstairs King bed, and a private lanai.

Jungle Boat
The Jungle Queen is a rejuvenating hideaway for a couple or an independent traveler — a landlocked boat in the middle of the jungle, with coqui frogs singing you to sleep and sunsets illuminating the ocean horizon from the deck.

Tiki Cottage
Nestled in the jungle, this cozy tiki hut offers two comfortable rooms, each with private entry from a shared lanai, plus a small outdoor kitchen — minutes from the famous Captain Cook trail and its breathtaking views.

Jungle Cabin
A fantastic escape in the heart of nature. Unwind on the porch, dip in the pool, soak in the hot tub, or stroll the trails and gardens of Manta Soul from this welcoming Kealakekua retreat.

Banyan Bungalow
A comfortable bungalow in a gorgeous natural setting beside a magical banyan tree — super-comfy Queen bed, a fun outdoor shower, and a hanging chair on the large lanai where nature does the inspiring.

Geodome
Reconnect with nature in this unforgettable geodesic dome — King bed, kitchenette, private bathroom with a gorgeous outdoor shower, and a large deck with table and lounge chairs beneath the jungle canopy.
Dwellings are also available for individual booking on Airbnb, Vrbo, and Booking.com.

Gatherings & Events

Wonders at the Doorstep
The Big Island offers experiences found almost nowhere else on earth.

Swim with Manta Rays
The Kona coast is one of only a few places on earth where you can reliably snorkel or dive alongside manta rays — gentle giants with wingspans reaching twelve feet. Consistently ranked among the finest manta encounters in the world, and the sanctuary's namesake.

Stand at the Edge of Creation
Two hours away, Kīlauea — one of the world's most active volcanoes — erupted nearly continuously for 35 years and added nearly 900 acres of new land in 2018 alone. When active, Halemaʻumaʻu Crater holds a lava lake, one of only a few on earth.
